Cal. 58. NSN. Bbl 40" round with fixed front sight and two leaf folding rear sight. Left side of bbl has "VP" marking over eagle's head and "MNM" inspector's marking. Bbl bolster has American eagle marking. Top tang has inspector's marking "M". US marked lock with Colt two line address. Lock and top of bbl have "1864" date. Musket buttplate is stamped "US". Triggerguard has "W" and "M" inspector's initials. Original iron ramrod. Three band fastened walnut stock. Left ear of stock has an "AHM" and "JT" cartouches. Produced 1861-1865, production is estimated at 75,000-100,000. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: US marked triangular bayonet. Modern wood bore plug. CONDITION: bbl, lock and fittings have good bright finish showing some very light spots of darkening. Stock has lightly worn original finish with good markings showing some scratches and marks.
